2010 Resolutions
January 2010 is coming to an end.
It's amazing how quickly the first month of the new year went by.
Will the entire year go by as quickly?
How many remember the beginning of 2009?
What about 10 years ago?
Where were you at the dawn of 2000?
What were your hopes and dreams?
Ten years ago, my daughter was graduating from high school.
I was in shock--how had she grown up so quickly?
There was so much to do.
Senior photos, prom dress, prom tickets, graduation gown.
Then came graduation day; then, graduation dinner.
A dozen or more family members putting her at the place of honor
at the head of the table of a lovely restaurant.
Everyone in awe. How time had flown by--not a cliche--reality!
Once a toddler. Now, a teen stepping out from home life to college life...
How I missed her so.
Seems like every time she went back to college, I cried rivers...
Empty nest is a real mother for ya.
Imagine the years rushing by 75 miles per hour.
Woosh!
College graduation.
Getting accepted at grad school in New York.
She moves to New York.
Acquiring her first full-time job in her dream field (Film/TV industry).
Graduation from grad school.
Getting her first big promotion (same job).
Mommy (me) is so proud of her grown up daughter.
I miss my daughter so much;
but, I must go own with my life.
Now each year whooshes by in my life.
I get engaged.
Move to Chicago.
Get married.
Get divorced.
Change careers.
Turn 50.
My mother becomes seriously ill.
I move to N. California.
My mother gets better.
I need to move again.
Where will I live?
Will I change careers again?
For me, life is not how I thought it would be 10 years ago.
Will I fulfill my dreams that I spoke of achieving in 2009?
I have 11 more months to go.
We'll see....
Stay with me as I journey toward my dreams.
Want to journey together?
Do you have a dream?
Care to share?

Hello Esther,
Enjoyed reading your post...For me I am discovering that life is one forward journey of self discovery...There is always something to discover that make you grow and journey on...Hence they are no right or wrong answers...Only outcomes that provide growth....What is bringing it all together for me is the materials from " A Course in Miracles " http://www.acim.org....The feeling of true FREEDOM is realized when you have discovered a set or resources that in your heart you know will take you completely through your journey....A Course in Miracles is doing that for me...Practicing the material has become a daily thing ...may I say a moment by moment activity....Energy and Insight for your day .....Lionel

I was fortunate to win the book "A Course in Miracles" at a Kwanzaa celebration this past December. I have begun reading it. It's truly inspiring and I am so happy to see you mention practicing the material because it is the application of its wisdom that is the true treasure rather than merely reading its words. Thank you so much for your comment.

Hi Esther,
I really enjoyed reading this entry and look forward to exploring your blog further. I couldn't have discovered it at a better time!
This April I plan to walk the Camino de Santiago. It is something I have been considering for a long time. I, too, am experiencing an empty nest and I look to this spiritual walk as a time for reflection on my life, past, present and future.
I look forward to sharing more with you both here and on Facebook. Once I figure out how to do it, I'll also put my old Tours photos on the site.
